Downloading slashes 80 per cent off software industry carbon emissions

Timed to mark World Environment Day at the weekend, Softwareload.co.uk released research showing that using direct downloads instead of hard CD copies can  reduce software industry carbon emissions by 80%. The company enables Internet users to download software directly onto their PCs and mobile phones, thus reducing the need for CD's and memory sticks. This research would interest the readers of Energy Saving Trust, who range from environmental industry professionals to consumers, who are looking for active ways to implement energy saving ideas within their companies and at home.
