Intamac Enables Bell Canada To Launch Nationwide Home Monitoring Services

Innovative internet portal and wireless based solution delivers next generation in home security

TORONTO AND NORTHAMPTON, February 19, 2007 – Bell Canada today launches its nationwide Home Monitoring service.  Enabled by Northampton-based Intamac System’s revolutionary secure internet portal technology it is an innovative new residential home monitoring service that uses the Bell wireless core network to deliver the ultimate in ‘made to order’ home safety and security.

“Home Monitoring from Bell combines intelligent in-home hardware with a highly-secure digital wireless network and Intamac’s internet portal to deliver reliable, safe and user-friendly home monitoring.” says Jeff Crews, Vice President and General Manager, Bell Monitoring Services Inc. “Using the secure internet portal, clients can tailor what types of events about which they wish to be alerted, who should be alerted and how they should be contacted.”

Completely wireless service

Home Monitoring from Bell is simple to install and easy to use. The service is completely wireless – both inside and outside of the home - and so cannot be disabled by skilled intruders that could cut the home’s wired phone.  This provides an enhanced level of security to homeowners over traditional home security systems.

By basing Home Monitoring on the Intamac secure internet portal Bell puts the homeowner in complete control. In addition to the benefits of a home monitoring service designed to provide timely information about any unexpected entry or event, clients can remotely manage and monitor routine events in real-time that occur within the home every day. For example, clients can customise their home monitoring service to be alerted via phone, e-mail or text message to monitor and act on the following:

• Whether children are home safely from school: Home Monitoring enables parents to get an alert at work when their child arrives home from school and turns the system off using their personalized PIN
• When an authorised visitor - a tradesperson, cleaner, nanny or au pair is in the home: Home Monitoring enables a temporary PIN to be activated in order grant access for authorised individuals.  The system allows the user to monitor at what time, on what date and for how long the event occurred.
• Potential hazards and costly damage:  Home Monitoring water and smoke detectors allow homeowners to respond quickly to flooding or fire when away from the home
• Business premises, rental properties or second homes: The portal approach allows remote property and premises to be secured and managed. For instance, holiday properties for rental can be monitored to know when they are vacant or occupied, and to see if there are issues that need attention.
• Support of independent living: With the Safe at Home feature, clients can monitor normal movement of an elderly family member within the home or set alert notification if daily routines do not occur by a specified time each day.

Video monitoring

In addition to phone, e-mail and SMS text-messaging notifications when an alert occurs, clients can also access a secure live video stream or have images sent to an e-mail or wireless handset enabling them to observe and act on situations wherever they are located in the world.

Bell Home Monitoring Services offers home protection monitoring starting at $19.95 per month. A Bell Home Monitoring starter kit, consisting of a Base Unit, two door/window sensors, a motion detector and a remote keypad is $299. Additional hardware and services can be purchased separately. Bell Home Monitoring is available nationwide where Bell digital wireless network coverage exists. Intamac portal technology also enables next–generation home monitoring and alarm systems from BT and Yale.
