WEConnect International, a corporate led non-profit that empowers women business owners to succeed in global markets has appointed Baroness Mary Goudie to their Global Advisory Board
Wednesday, 9th May, 2012 – London, UK – Baroness Mary Goudie, a member of the House of Lords and the Executive and Board of Directors of the Vital Voices Global Partnership, has been appointed to the WEConnect International Global Advisory Board. The initiative focuses on investing in emerging women leaders, with an aim of strengthening communities and improving economic growth.
WEConnect International facilitates inclusive and sustainable economic growth by empowering and connecting women business owners globally. WEConnect is the only global organization that identifies, educates, registers, and certifies non-U.S. women's business enterprises that are at least 51% owned, managed, and controlled by one or more women. WEConnect is active in countries that together represent over 40% of the world population: Canada, Chile, China, India, Peru, Europe, and soon Australia and Mexico. WEConnect is also working with partners to explore opportunities in countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Costa Rica, Indonesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Russia, South Africa, etc.
Other advisory board members include Kim Azzarelli, President, Women in the World Foundation, and Vice President, New Ventures, Newsweek Daily Beast and Lorely Burt, a Member of UK Parliament.
Baroness Goudie is looking forward to playing an active role on the advisory board and using her experience to benefit women business owners in global markets.

About Baroness Goudie
A senior member of the House of Lords, Baroness Goudie is vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Equality Group; and in the last Parliament was active in pushing through one of the government’s major reform: The Equality Bill. She launched the global initiative to fight human trafficking and is involved with the G8 and G20 promoting the role of women and children in the global economy. She is actively engaged in numerous philanthropic organisations including her role as a member of the Executive and Board of Directors of Vital Voices Global Partnership and is a mentor on the Vital Voices Partnership and Bank of America Global Ambassadors Program.
