ETL Systems to showcase its latest RF technology at CommunicAsia2017 following order from MEASAT and other major satellite operators in the region

The customisable Hurricane RF matrix, which is designed to change and adapt with the ever-changing requirements of the latest satellite teleports, will also make its Asian debut at the event

Madley, UK. 17 May 2017: ETL Systems, a global designer and manufacturer of custom build RF equipment for satellite communications, will showcase its latest RF technology at CommunicAsia2017, taking place May 23-25 at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

ETL’s presence at the show highlights ETL’s commitment to the Asia-Pacific region and follows recent, major orders placed by operators in the region. Among these operators is Malaysia-based regional communications satellite operator MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. (“MEASAT”), which ordered Scorpion passive splitters/combiners as well as Victor Switch Matrix / Routers for carrier monitoring from ETL Systems. MEASAT uses both products to provide highly reliable value added services and to enhance operational efficiency in monitoring services across multiple antenna platforms.

The event will also mark the debut of its newest RF switch matrix – the configurable 64 x 64 Hurricane Matrix – to the Asian market. The customisable Hurricane RF matrix is designed to change and adapt with the ever-changing requirements of the latest satellite teleports. Input and output modules can be configured with features to suit specific RF needs for each satellite feed, including fixed gain, variable gain, LNB powering and fibre inputs. Not only is the Hurricane flexible and future-proof, but it also features no loss of service, power consumption reductions, improved RF performance, and a simple and intuitive user interaction.

ETL’s StingRay RF Over Fibre enables high quality conversion of RF signals over fibre for short and long distance transmissions. The range now includes modules to convert a range of frequencies including L-band, broadband, IF, 10MHz and GPS.

ETL’s 128 x 128 Vulcan Matrix, the 16 x 16 Victor Matrix, the Alto Amplifier and the highly resilient Dextra Splitter will also be on display.

Demonstrations at CommunicAsia 2017
New! 64 x 64 Hurricane Matrix

The Hurricane RF matrix is designed to change and adapt with the ever-changing requirements of the latest satellite teleports. The unique input/output module design allows teleport engineers to hot-swap connectors to tailor different feeds coming from a satellite dish and then off to the modems. These modules also offer a choice of RF or fibre inputs and come with a range of features such as variable gain and variable slope to balance signal levels. The Hurricane is designed with hot-swap of all active internal components including RF modules, dual redundant power supplies, dual redundant CPUs and fan trays. The matrix is designed so that it does not need to be re-booted in the event of any failure. The flexibility of the Hurricane matrix allows the RF signal to be fully controlled and monitored, with RF detection on each path. New features include switchable LNB powering on each input – all within the 4U high Chassis. With high linearity signal handling (improved 1dB gain compression point) and market leading RF performance, this new ETL Matrix design builds on nearly 30 years of experience. As only active signal routes are powered this means a 25% reduction in power consumption compared to traditional RF matrix routers. The new Hurricane design also includes upgraded touch-screen controls, more intuitive HMI and an improved web browser system.

StingRay RF Over Fibre Range
Building on ETL’s existing RF expertise, the new range provides a unique design for high isolation applications. The range incorporates single mode fibre links to transmit and receive RF signals with remote control and monitoring of temperature, fan status and power supply status via a web browser interface and SNMP. All chassis in the range are hot-swap with a range of fibre module options such as single or dual modules, 10MHz reference modules, and 13/18V LNB powering. New models include redundancy systems for reliability as well as standalone component modules.

16 x 16 Victor Matrix
Easy future expansion - All models now available with software enabled expansion, allowing customers to start with a matrix as small as 4 x 4, allowing them to expand in the future up to 16 x 16 in single steps, via a software key. No need to send the matrix back to ETL for expansion.

Dextra L-band splitters and combiners
ETL’s Dextra Splitter offers high resilience RF signal distribution in a compact 1U high chassis. The range offers consistently excellent RF performance, including high linearity and low noise figure, and outperforms some of the more expensive models available. Full remote control and monitoring via SNMP & web browser interface, with settable alarm thresholds. Flexible and configurable LNB power at the input ports of the splitters is also featured. New options include DC and 10MHz pass.

128x128 Vulcan Matrix/Router
The Vulcan offers excellent RF Performance and benefits from compact design, minimising valuable rack space, and hot in-service expansion. The compact configuration offers a cost-effective solution for larger RF routing systems.

Alto Amplifiers
ETL’s Alto series range of L-band Amplifiers provides signal management flexibility within an RF chain. Used to offset signal loss from long runs of cables and passive splitters and combiners by providing gain, the Alto series of amplifiers provide excellent RF performance in a modular design, with a variety of chassis and modules which can be configured to suit a range of applications. The Amplifiers can be fixed gain, variable gain, with dual redundant amplifiers also available.
