Percona Live covers technologies and practices to keep a MySQL-based system running at peak performance with enterprise reliability. The event features world-famous MySQL experts speaking on cloud computing and NoSQL databases, design and architecture for performance and scalability, next-generation emerging database technologies, as well as perennial subjects such as backups and monitoring.

Torben Mathiasen, a Fusion-io Senior Solutions Technologist, will be presenting on performance tuning in a talk entitled “Tuning for speed - Percona server and Fusion-io.” The presentation will focus on the performance, reliability and predictability when tuning Fusion ioDrives in conjunction with Percona Server. From basic tuning, to Linux details, to MySQL specifics, Mathiasen will cover everything DBAs need to know to optimise their database configurations.

“Working closely with the Percona team and community is a crucial part of Fusion’s strategy for helping our customers develop elegantly simple solutions for their companies," said Mat Young, Fusion-io EMEA senior director.  "We are thrilled to be participating in our third Percona Live event following the successful summits in San Francisco and New York City. The London event promises to be an outstanding event for DBAs interested in learning more about how they can accelerate MySQL with simple, efficient flash memory technologies.”

By using high-capacity ioMemory tiers, Fusion-io customers have increased their database performance, improved availability, strengthened data warehousing, simplified management and lowered cost of ownership. One of Fusion’s MySQL customers – Answers.com – achieved the following benefits through their ioMemory implementation as documented in their Fusion-io case study:

  • 30x faster database replication, ensuring responses included most up to date data

  • 9x greater query processing throughput

  • 30% faster application response times, improving user experience

  • Over 8x faster to disaster recovery time

  • 75% reduction in server footprint, power costs, and IT overhead

About Fusion-io
Fusion-io has pioneered a next generation storage memory platform for shared data decentralisation that significantly improves the processing capabilities within a datacentre by relocating process-critical, or "active", data from centralised storage to the server where it is being processed, a methodology referred to as data decentralisation. Fusion's integrated hardware and software solutions leverage non-volatile memory to significantly increase datacentre efficiency and offers enterprise grade performance, reliability, availability and manageability. Fusion's data decentralisation platform can transform legacy architectures into next generation datacentres and allows enterprises to consolidate or significantly reduce complex and expensive high performance storage, high performance networking and memory-rich servers. Fusion's platform enables enterprises to increase the utilisation, performance and efficiency of their datacentre resources and extract greater value from their information assets.
