Nearly 60 Per Cent of Employees Confess Pressure is still on to Reduce Costs

Online courier comparison site, Rapid Parcel, aims to save businesses up to 50 per cent on all courier deliveries

LONDON – 27/11/2012 - Nearly 60 per cent (57%) of UK employees admit there is still significant pressure to reduce costs at work according to online courier comparison and booking company, Rapid Parcel. The online web service estimates UK small businesses are paying up to 50 per cent more than needed for courier and parcel delivery costs.

Backed by Excess Baggage Company, which has 25 years experience of shipping parcels around the world, Rapid Parcel claims that UK businesses could halve the estimated £50 million a year they spend on parcel and courier deliveries.

Rapid Parcel’s research reveals that one in ten employees estimate that their business sends between 2,000 and 5,000 parcels per year, with 26 per cent estimating sending up to 520 a year, creating significant costs, especially for smaller businesses. Just as price comparison sites for energy and financial products are well established with small businesses, reviewing parcel and courier charges could see businesses make real savings.

Stuart Elliott, founder and managing director, Rapid Parcel, said:
“Clearly businesses are still under significant pressure to reduce costs – and parcel delivery/courier costs are an area they may have not considered. We help companies save on a critical business service while providing a first rate service. Our relationships with key courier providers mean that savings of up to 50 per cent are within any business’ reach.”

With Excess Baggage’s expertise and market reach behind it, Rapid Parcel is able to negotiate the most competitive prices on the market with best-in-class couriers including UPS, DHL, TNT, CityLink and Fedex. Small businesses are able to benefit from the sorts of savings usually negotiated by large corporations.

Businesses can effortlessly compare, choose and book domestic and international couriers in just six easy steps. Rapid Parcel aims to make time-poor companies’ parcel booking experiences as straightforward as possible through the development of a user-friendly, intuitive website packed with useful tools. Rapid Parcel’s commitment to technological innovation is evident in the development of a mobile site which enables business users track their parcel movements when on the move and easily and quickly obtain a quote or even book a courier.

Stuart Elliott, founder and managing director, Rapid Parcel, continued:
“It is well documented that Royal Mail service standards are not what they once were. Over the last 28 years Excess Baggage has built up a wealth of experience and know-how within this sector. Our reputation and strong relationships we have built over the years mean we are able to offer unbeatable prices and meet the growing demand for a reliable and hassle free parcel delivery service.”
