DEBUT APPEARANCE IN SOUTH-EAST ASIA SINCE THE MERGER OF PRYSMIAN AND DRAKA
Milan, June 18th, 2012 – Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cables and systems industry, will make its South-East Asia debut this week at CommunicAsia in Singapore (19-22 June 2012). Created last year by the merger of Prysmian and Draka, Prysmian Group has a wealth of experience across the entire Telecoms sector and will showcase a wide range of products that are highly suited to the Asian marketplace and a perfect match for the overall scope of the CommunicAsia event. Bringing together the world-class expertise of two leading organisations in the energy and telecoms cables and systems industry, the new Prysmian Group is the global leader with sales of some €8 billion in 2011 and 22,000 employees across 50 countries and 97 plants.
CommunicAsia is Asia’s leading communications event covering a comprehensive range of key and emerging technologies from FTTx, LTE, mobile broadband, mobile commerce and innovations, next generation services, satellite communications, smartphones & devices and many others. It is an ideal venue for the Telecoms sector of Prysmian Group to showcase its latest innovative solutions into the Asian market and for the company to present its new organisation, with operations in Singapore, Jakarta and several Chinese locations.
Regionally, Prysmian Group’s recent projects in the telecoms sector include a major contract worth more than €200 million, to supply high-tech optical fibre cables for the construction and management of the National Broadband Network in Australia.
The Telecom Solutions business operates in the telecommunications sector with a wide range of cable and system solutions addressing the high bandwidth provision needs of major network operators and service providers. The portfolio covers all areas of the market – including long distance, submarine and metro systems – although the area of greatest activity at present is within the ‘last mile’ access networks for which Prysmian has developed the xsNet suite of products and systems which will be present at CommunicAsia.
xsNet addresses the passive access network and provides tailor-made solutions for all parts of the FTTx network – indoor, outside and POP applications. The building blocks of xsNet include a number of familiar products which have already proven themselves to be highly reliable solutions. These include SiroccoXS (Blown fibre), VertiCasaXS (MDU cabling system) and VerTVXS (optical satellite solution) – all former Prysmian developments. From the Draka side have come the blown cable families including JetNetXS and EaseNetXS.
The Prysmian Multimedia Solutions (MMS) group provides cable solutions for every communication need in modern homes, offices, business premises, industry and transport infrastructures. MMS develops, produces and sells copper and optical fibre cables that cover virtually every communications application. The business group will showcase a Draka hybrid cable solution to future-proof smart buildings and offices against today’s constant broadband infrastructure advancement, while demonstrating how effective screening protection can remove troublesome RF interference and noise in digital environments.
Prysmian will also be using the event to launch its new xsMobile Fibre-to-the-Antenna (FTTA) solution which addresses the growing demand coming from the mobile sector of the market.
Prysmian Group will be present at booth 1K2-01 with a team of commercial and technical experts available to discuss all aspects of the products and their applications
