London – March 29th 2012 – Skyscape Cloud Services Limited, the easy to adopt, easy to use and easy to leave Assured Cloud Services Company, today released the results of a recent survey compiled to understand the future of Cloud services within the UK Public Sector.
The survey gives an up-to-date insight into the thinking within the UK Public Sector of Cloud Services and provides candid answers regarding the current drivers for adoption, projected timeframes, perceived risks and predicted savings.
The survey of 7,902 UK Public Sector staff, revealed the clear need to adopt Cloud services with the perceived benefits understood to be
Ability to enter into more flexible contracts
Ability to gain greater agility for ICT with new services
Ability to lower costs
Delivery of improve service levels
The survey also provided an honest insight when asked what the number one reason would be to help accelerate cloud adoption, with 59% saying that ultimately cost savings would be the primary driver. Other key highlights include;
The Top 3 reasons that would delay or stop cloud adoption are 1) perceived security risks 2) the certainty of data not being held in the UK 3) inability to validate the business benefits
Over 53% cited perceived security risks as the greatest inhibitor to cloud adoption
Less that 10% thought that their role was threatened by the use of the cloud
61% thought that Cloud Computing could make ICT work better for their organisation
