Overwhelming support from the industry as the event celebrates a decade of connections, leaders and innovation
27 February 2015 – A host of global industry bodies, leaders and educators from the international bio-economy will be converging in Amsterdam next week (2-4th March 2015) for the 10th annual World Bio Markets. The event, which is renowned in the industry as the only leading bio-economy show, will focus on three core topics in 2015: biofuels, bio-based chemicals and feedstock supply, security and selection.
Now in its 10th year, the conference attracts some of the biggest players and thought leaders in the industry including Boeing, Airbus, DSM, UPN, BP, Shell, IKEA, Coca Cola and many more.
“World Bio Markets brings together the vast diversity of the industry in one place to discuss the latest trends, innovations and controversial hot topics,” said Nadim Chaudhry, CEO of Green Power Conferences.
“Oil price volatility is an important issue facing the industry right now and one that needs to be addressed. The industry will be questioning whether we are entering a new paradigm or whether this is a temporary aberration and will look at what effect this will have on the chemical industry and specifically the growth of bio-based chemicals. The World Bio Markets event is the best platform to discuss controversial hot topics such as these.”
As the bio-economy’s only leading event, the conference plays host to some of the most controversial and interesting discussions within the industry. In addition to oil price volatility, this year’s World Bio Markets event will highlight the tipping points within the industry and the early adopter companies beginning to move into lucrative niche markets. Controversial topics such as the construction of new commercial conversion platforms will also be reviewed.
Pioneers, thought-leaders and opinion formers from across the globe are set to create a vibrant agenda at the 10th annual World Bio Markets event. This year’s agenda includes keynotes on the bio-renewable age, securing rural economies, the bio-based market landscape, the intricacies of fuel policy and trade and the true value of bio-based chemicals and its market.
This year’s event will kick off with an analysis from Bertholt Leeftink, Director-General Enterprise and Innovation at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, The Netherlands. He will look into the role of the bio-based sector in harnessing a strong and sustainable economy.
Nearly three years after DSM highlighted the bio-economy opportunity for the Dutch chemical industry, Feike Sijbesma, CEO at DSM, is taking stock of how far this industry has come and how much further it still has to go. As a key architect of the original bio-economy vision, he will address how he played a key part in establishing the commercial production of cellulosic biofuels and how he plans to continue to build on these foundations to deliver a circular economy to take us into the bio-renewable age.
The solution-led content will continue as Sari Mannonen, Director of Sales and Marketing at UPM Biofuels focuses on mapping the bio-based market landscape to ID the optimal options for product offerings.
“The tension is already building for this year’s World Bio Markets event,” said Nadim Chaundry, Global Bio Markets Series Founder. “Like the industry that we work in, the conference is evolving and this year’s event will see us continuing to provide value, connect people, accelerate the industry and act as a key catalyst. The 10th annual World Bio Markets is set to bring together key industry experts and we are certain that anyone with a great interest and passion for the bio-industry will be enriched by the practical solution-led content provided by this year’s extensive selection of speakers.”
The pioneers of the industry will come together to create one voice and present how this innovative industry can secure its future. The panel will discuss how highlighting and enhancing the true value of bio-based chemicals to develop market adoption strategies that will allow the bio-economy to grow. Sharing their knowledge will be Robert Conrado, Director of Engineering at LanzaTech, Mike Knauf, CEO of Rivertop Renewables, Juan Carlos Bueno, Global Executive Vice President at Stora Enzo Biomaterials and Antoine Amory, Corporate Industrial Biotechnology Manager at Solvay.
Taking the stage to give an update on the latest developments in cellulosic ethanol is Ken Hill, Cellulosic Products Business Leader at DuPont.
The discussion will continue to develop as a panel of bio-industry leaders debate and analyse the intricacies of fuel policy and trade with strategies to design a post-2020 plan that can cope with policy instability. Providing their insight will be Julie Girling, MEP for the European Parliament, John Cooper, Director European Biofuels Strategy at BP, Willemijn vander Werf, Director of Global Sustainability at LanzaTech and Tim Brummels, CEO at Canergy.
“We are delighted with the number of participating companies and the exciting breadth of topics that the event will cover,” added Nadim Chaundry. “The event is an excellent opportunity to meet the thought-leaders of the industry and get up to speed with all the latest news and innovation in the industry. To celebrate our 10th year, being at the forefront of the industry we have invited a special guest Mark Gallagher to give our WBM 10th anniversary inspirational keynote. ”
