The first students of Econsultancy’s new MSc in Internet Retailing have now graduated, with over 60% receiving distinction - a significant achievement for a new qualification. They represent a growing number of professionals looking to deepen their knowledge and develop their skillset in internet retailing and prepare for a commercial leadership role within a burgeoning area of digital.

The three year part-time syllabus was designed to address all aspects of internet retailing, including marketing, buying, merchandising, logistics, engineering and technology and was created in partnership with Ian Jindal (Editor-in-chief of Internet Retailing Magazine) and Manchester Metropolitan University.  The qualification was developed over three years and combines highly flexible and cutting edge tuition with the academic rigour of a top European Business School.

Ian Jindal comments: "Congratulations to our pioneering first intake - talk about completing the course in style! We created this qualification to meet the needs of ambitious professionals and their employers. Career and commercial development in our dynamic industry requires a broad mastery of many disciplines, along with a continuous learning approach to keep ahead of change while focusing upon the customer. This qualification is commercially-driven yet academically assessed - a distinctive combination that makes the award valuable to the individual and their business. We set out to attract ambitious, motivated, commercial individuals and these exemplary results show the calibre and dedication of our professional students. Our second and third intakes are equally dedicated and ambitious and as the programme becomes ever more established we look forward to a growing number of Masters in Internet Retailing!”

These new graduates join alumni of Econsultancy’s more established MSc in Digital Marketing Communications. Launched  in 2007, the course was the first of its kind and is now firmly established as the market leader.  With over 90% of candidates achieving a merit or higher, university examiners described the quality of the 2012 graduate’s dissertation work undertaken as ‘outstanding’.

Vivien Underwood, Econsultancy's Head of Professional Development commented: “This year's high standards are testament to the commitment of our delegates and the value they attach to the learning experience. Seeing the qualifications mature is extremely satisfying and we're seeing exceptional demand for accredited learning as individuals seek to differentiate themselves in their digital careers and organisations seek to develop in-house expertise. The success of this year's intake serves as a source of inspiration to everyone enrolling on our programmes.”

Both the MSc in Internet Retailing and MSc in Digital Marketing Communications combine industry-led training and sound academic principles in order to deliver qualifications that are highly relevant, immediately applicable and internationally recognised.

Becky Olie, Head of Online Selling at House of Fraser, achieved a distinction on the MSc in Internet Retailing: "The MSc has had a direct impact on me and House of Fraser. It has given me the insight and tools to do my job more effectively and helped me develop in my role. The techniques and practices instilled will be used and refined throughout my career, and should hopefully help me achieve my ultimate goal of becoming a CEO in future. The MSc in Internet Retailing was a very worthwhile experience that, if I had my time again, I would still undertake without hesitation."

Philip Murphy is Digital Marketing Manager at Permanent TSB Bank. He achieved a distinction on the MSc in Digital Marketing Communications: “The most important thing I’ve taken away is the confidence to push innovation and contribute to the growth of the company. A critical mindset and strengthened professional approach means I consistently produce work of a higher quality and creativity. If you're serious about developing your career and adding value to all aspects of your company's digital marketing, just do the MSc".

Intakes for both the MSc in Internet Retailing and MSc in Digital Marketing Communications start in September 2012, with the application deadline on 20th July.
