Earthkind shampoo bars are made for everyday use to help protect the health of your hair and scalp, and our planet, using only natural, sustainable, vegan ingredients with a high-quality composition.

The shampoo bars are a blend of the best traditional and new advances in hair care formulation.

In fact, one of the UK’s leading trichologists, Tony Maleedy, has spent the last 12 months perfecting the formulation to get it 100% right for both the hair and the environment.

He said: “We have taken proven natural ingredients, some of which have been used for thousands of years to improve the hair, and combined them with the latest advanced materials, all from natural sources.

“The use of these natural ingredients allows EarthKind to create outstanding products which make your hair strong, luxuriant and beautiful.

“Our shampoo bars are ethically created, plastic-free and are kind to your hair and kind to the planet.”

In a nutshell, EarthKind Shampoo Bars are:

This wonderfully rich and nourishing shampoo bar is made by blending high-quality organic avocado and olive oils with gentle coconut-derived cream cleansers and adding deep penetrating moisturisers.

Excellent for naturally dry hair or hair which is chemically processed, particularly coloured hair. This remarkable shampoo imparts intense long-lasting moisture giving your hair a vibrant colour and a rich shine.

Citrus Leaf
This frequent use shampoo bar made with natural ingredients is light, gentle and refreshing.

It improves the texture and condition of oily and regular hair by replenishing moisture and leaving it shiny and in excellent condition. Ideal for daily or after sports use and extremely convenient for travelling.

The Tea Tree and Eucalyptus shampoo bar also has a smoothing and calming effect on irritated scalps.

NOTES TO EDITOR

Earthkind are shampoo bars, not soap.

Why is this important?

The most important difference between a soap and a shampoo is the pH (which stands for potential of Hydrogen), or how acid or alkali a product is.

The natural pH of the skin is between 5 and 6. If any type of product differs very much from this range it is not good for the skin and hair. Why?

Soap is an alkali and typically has a pH of 8 to 9, which is fine for skin because sebum, the natural oil of the skin which is acidic, quickly spreads over the skin and brings the pH down to normal.

But this oil takes much longer to spread over the hair, meaning that the pH of the hair is alkali for much longer. The effect of this is to swell the hair making it dry, dull and weak which leads to breakage.

EarthKind Shampoo Bars have a pH between 5 and 6, which compliments the hair’s natural pH and natural beauty.

Who is behind EarthKind?

EarthKind Shampoo Bars have been developed by leading British Trichologist (hair specialist) and award-winning cosmetic scientist, Tony Maleedy (MIT) and Jonathan Lawson-Brown.

Tony is a member and former Governor of the Institute of Trichologists (London) and a member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists. He has worked as a Trichologist for over twenty years in clinics in New York and London. In that time, he treated tens of thousands of people with hair and scalp disorders, including many celebrities and members of the British Royal Family.

Now much of Tony’s time is spent developing Innovative new hair and skin care products and carrying out research into hair at the University of Bath, School of Material Science, one of Europe’s leading centres for research into natural and synthetic fibres.

This knowledge helps our team of cosmetic chemists create new hair and skin care products using where possible natural ingredients to formulate high quality products made from sustainable materials.
