Cambridge, UK and Berlin, Germany 17th February 2015 - MongoDB tools startup 3T Software announced today they have received substantial investment from Redgate software, a leading SQL Server tools developer. This second round of investment for 3T brings their total capital raised to over $1 million. 3T Software build tools for MongoDB 3.0, including MongoChef - a GUI that dramatically improves productivity.
The entry of a major third-party tools vendor signals a new level of maturity for the MongoDB ecosystem. This is supported by MongoDB’s recent announcement of version 3.0 that builds on their increasingly mature foundation. Currently, 3T’s MongoChef is the only GUI that fully supports MongoDB version 3.0, which brings massive improvements to performance and scalability.
3T were founded in Berlin one year ago by seasoned entrepreneurs Graham Thomson, Thomas Zahn, and Tomasz Naumowicz. As veteran MongoDB developers they set out to create the tools every MongoDB developer needs to do amazing work.
As an investor, Redgate is an ideal match for 3T having been in the same position some ten years ago. Now Redgate’s SQL Server tools are used by 91% of companies in the Fortune 100 and they expect 3T to be similarly successful in the NoSQL market.
“3T make the best MongoDB developer tools, and they’re doing for NoSQL what Redgate has done in the SQL world for years,” said Simon Galbraith, CEO and founder of Redgate. “We've been looking to invest in startups that are in the same kind of business as we are, and 3T is a perfect example. The partnership gives them – and us – the opportunity to make the most of a market that's growing for both of us.”
“It's flattering to be approached by Redgate and their investment isn't just about the money for us,” said Tomasz Naumowicz, Co-Founder of 3T Software Labs. “It's the fact that they've been in the same space for years, albeit with SQL users, and can put us on the fast track by helping us in many areas.”
“MongoChef provides the flexibility and robustness we need to get things done faster,” said Aaron Hardy, Senior Software Engineer. “The ability to quickly and easily navigate and manipulate documents has been an enormous time saver and paid for the license fees during the first day of use. We’re very pleased with MongoChef’s technical capabilities and the response to our feedback has been phenomenal.”
“Finally, I can now generate reports from our MongoDB databases without having to ask my engineers,” said Eric R. Korb, CEO, Accreditrust.com. “MongoChef provides the tools that empower me at the executive level, while offering my engineering team an enhanced shell to perform their work more efficiently too. MongoChef offers a perfect combination of simplicity and power.”
"3T's tools make exploring and editing MongoDB data fast and simple, and I've been using them every day on several projects,” said William Hayes, PhD, CTO of Selventa. “The 3T team is very responsive as well to questions and enhancement/prioritization requests."
Key benefits of 3T MongoChef:
