Glasgow, 17 November 2015 – Sopra Steria, a European leader in business change and digital transformation, has today announced the opening of its new office in Glasgow, Scotland. The new office builds upon Sopra Steria’s long-term presence in Scotland and comes in response to the company’s sustained growth in the region.
Sopra Steria recently signed the Scottish Business Pledge, committing to economic success and sustainable growth in Scotland, and this office opening is another affirmation of its commitment to Scottish business.
Following the merger between Sopra and Steria, the combined assets of the companies allowed for the organisation to make additional investments in Scotland. This new office in Glasgow’s city centre is a sign of the sustained growth they have seen and will serve as a platform for further expansion of the business in Scotland.
Alison McLaughlin, Sector Director for Local & Regional Government, Sopra Steria, comments: “We have come a long way in Scotland and this new office will allow us to expand our presence in the region. By having a strong base in Glasgow, we can both grow new business and invest in our existing customer relationships. As leader of our Public Sector business in Scotland, I’m excited to be involved with developing the new Glasgow office and look forward to building on our success.”
Sopra Steria has a number of key strategic customers in the region, working with National Australia Group (NAG) for over fifteen years and Student Loans Company (SLC) for nearly five years. These partnerships have continued to see growth with projects such as a new digital customer portal for SLC which was the first live Government Digital Service ‘exemplar’ project. It is an integral part of a major transactional processing system, managing a total loan value of over £60 billion. Projects and relationships of this nature are the key motivation behind the expansion in Glasgow.
Further supporting this growth, Sopra Steria continues to expand its Scottish graduate and apprenticeship programme. It has hired over 40 graduates in Scotland for 2016 with the expectation of investing in even more for 2017 and 2018. The office will also enable Sopra Steria to strengthen its leadership in Open Source, having worked with SLC and other clients such as the Scottish Government and Marine Scotland in this area. Sopra Steria recently spoke at the Open Group’s ‘Enbabling Boundaryless Information Flow’ event in Edinburgh with SLC, discussing how the company has moved to an Enterprise Architecture and Sopra Steria’s role in supporting this successful transformation.
Sopra Steria’s new office is located on St Vincent Street.
