The combined CommuniCast 2015 & Myanmar International ICT Exhibitions which opens today, offers proven solutions to boost Myanmar’s digital economy

Overwhelming international support for Myanmar’s emerging and fast-developing ICT industry

17 November 2015 – More than 120 companies are lined up to play a part in shaping the ICT sector priorities of the new Myanmar Government as CommuniCast 2015 joins forces with the International Myanmar ICT exhibition. Co-locating for the first time, the combination of events to be hosted until 19 November 2015 at Myanmar Event Park, Yangon provides the opportunity for the full spectrum of the ICT economy to be under one roof, from satellite and broadband through to mobile and enterprise solutions.

This week’s event will see more than 120 companies, together with 35 new exhibitors, from 22 countries across the globe including two pavilions from Singapore and groups from India, Ontario (Canada) and Thailand. CommuniCast 2015 has received overwhelming support from key influencers in the industry including the incumbent operator, MPT and the regulatory authority under the Posts and Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

The focus of the event, with the theme, ’Opportunity driven by Connectivity’, is primarily on satellite and broadband technologies, mobile infrastructure buildout and mobile and enterprise solutions. With the tele-density of the country targeted to reach 75% by the end of the 2015/2016 financial year, the opportunities for suppliers to the industry are bright, especially since the ISP, broadband, mobile and banking markets have opened up. The broadcasting market can be expected to flourish in 2016.

The Myanmar Computer Federation is at the forefront in emphasising the development of Myanmar as a software development hub; its members are also well positioned to join forces with international partners to bring the latest technologies to the country. The opportunity to discuss priorities for Myanmar will be debated at the ICT Live! Forums to be hosted during the exhibitions.

New to this year’s event is the Myanmar Software Start-up feature to showcase the most promising new apps in the country. The incubation hub in the expanded offices of the Myanmar Computer Federation is brimming with new ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives. With a strong focus on Myanmar language applications development the Federation is driving forward the ICT industry at all levels.

“Since we announced the co-location of the event with the International Myanmar ICT Exhibition, we have received overwhelming support from the industry,” said Rupert Owen, Event Director, Overseas Exhibition Services. “The co-location of events emphasises the demand for a professional platform to project Myanmar’s fast evolving ICT industry and to help match international companies with local partners to accelerate growth.”

The CommuniCast Myanmar show is supported by both the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information.

CommuniCast Myanmar 2015 and the Myanmar International ICT Exhibitions are open daily from 09.00 am to 5.00 pm from 17-19 November.
