UK Gift Card and Voucher Association (UK GCVA) has chosen the winners of its Christmas gift card and voucher design competition
The UK Gift Card and Voucher Association (UK GCVA), the trade body representing the UK’s £4.7 billion voucher, gift card and stored value solutions industry, has today announced the winners of its Christmas gift card and voucher design competition. The winners, who successfully translated their vision of Christmas into a card design, each received a prize of £150 on a gift card. Some of the winning children even had the opportunity to see their Christmas designs produced into real gift cards and will be able see them in pride of place on the shelves of some high street stores.
The competition, which was sponsored by Stored Value Solutions (SVS), aims to increase awareness of the use of gift cards and vouchers as a gift from children to parents or carers at Christmas and shows just how meaningful a gift card or voucher can be as a gift.
The competition asked students from ages five to 18 to design a gift card or voucher for their own parents or carers along the theme of ‘what Christmas means to me’. Split into age categories, the under-18s designed a Christmas themed gift card or voucher, which was judged by a panel of experts within the prepaid industry. Selecting a winner proved a challenge for the judges who struggled to pick out just one first place in each category from the wide array of highly creative entries.
The winners are announced as follows:
(Sponsored by National Book Tokens)
First: James Oakes, St Nicolas Junior School in Newbury
Second: Robbie Turnet, Grappenhall Heys Primary School in Cheshire
Third: Jodie Carter, Newbridge Primary School in Bath
(Sponsored by Halfords)
First: Anika Akhter, Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre in Kent
Second: Ben Arnold Burtenshaw, Singlewell Primary School in Kent
Third: Liam Rice, Highams Park School in London
(Sponsored by One4All)
Antonia Bandozi, Leaders in Training club
The prizes have been categorised as follows and have already be presented to the winning children:
1st Prize – £150
2nd Prize – £100
3rd Prize - £50
A group/school prize of £400 for the winning student’s organisation was also presented.
The winning gift cards will be produced by CPI Card Group on behalf of the retail sponsors.
Andrew Johnson, director-general of the UKCGVA commented:
“From day one, the competition has been a great success. The participation from the schools has been excellent and I hope they and the children have enjoyed creating their designs as much as we’ve enjoyed seeing them all come in. The level of thought and talent that has gone into all the entries has been outstanding.”
