21st June 2017, Bath, UK: Wood for Trees has been announced as overall Supplier of the Year at the recent Institute of Fundraising Insight Awards in London.
Both Barnardo’s and Centrepoint nominated Wood for Trees for the award, which recognises the marketing service provider that helps a charity achieve exceptional results, time after time.

Awards finalists in three categories
Wood for Trees was delighted to be shortlisted for three awards with three different charity partners in the Institute of Fundraising Insight Awards. At the awards ceremony in London on Wednesday 7th June, Wood for Trees was awarded Most Powerful Insight from Traditional Methods of Data Analysis with charity partner Barnardo’s.
Winning with Barnardo’s
For their winning entry, Wood for Trees and Barnardo’s performed analysis of cash and raffle appeals against a background of increasing mailing volume and decreasing gross income. A deep dive review, modelling, accurate forecasts and targeted campaigns have all helped to shape a strategy for their cash and raffle programme. At the same time the charity has been able to contact existing supporters to update their consent in preparation for GDPR.
Barnardo’s said, “At a very challenging time for the charity and the sector more widely, we’ve been able to develop a relatively aggressive strategy for our cash and raffle programme with confidence. This confidence is underpinned not only by the careful work we’ve done with consent statements, but also by the knowledge that the increase in programme volume this year has not yielded any noticeable increase in complaint rates”.

Finalist with Dogs Trust
Shortlisted in the Most Powerful Insight from Traditional Methods of Data Analysis category for their work with Dogs Trust, Wood for Trees helped to show the charity where they were and what they needed to do before they began ensuring their data was appropriately consented for GDPR legislation.
Finalist with Centrepoint
In their shortlisted entry for Most Powerful Insight Using Innovative Methods of Data Analysis category, Wood for Trees produced a report for Centrepoint that bypassed the need for costly and time-consuming bespoke research by deploying Centrepoint’s supporter database with existing attitudinal research, geodemographics and data on propensity to give.
Finalist with Barnardo’s
Shortlisted for the Best Use of Data and Analysis in Digital Fundraising category, Wood for Trees performed audit interviews and analysis for Barnardo’s, leading to recommendations for short terms fixes as well as guiding long term strategic decision making around organisational change. The findings fed into the hugely successful Believe in Me campaign and data from the campaign now provides a benchmark for effective strategic planning of Barnardo’s digital fundraising. This work was Highly Commended by the Award Judges.
Wood for Trees also sponsored the Outstanding Contribution Award which was presented to Independent CRM & Data Strategy Consultant, Janet Snedden for many years of work in the sector, specifically in analysis and database management plus the out of work hours volunteering on many committees and taskforces, plus the championing of the insight community with a forward thinking agenda.
