12 March 14 - itec announced today a new business operation and expansion that services IT vendors, resellers, and distributors in over 90 countries, including an exclusive partnership with SMART Technologies Inc. Since 1996 when the business founded its partnership with Cisco, itec has forged ahead year after year building strategic partnerships with AT&T, BBC and Snap-On providing white-labelled IT resources, helpdesk and hardware and software support services - never dealing direct with end customers and always recognising its position as a 3rd party provider.
The partnership with SMART agreed mid-2013 meant the itec business had to significantly grow its £5m revenues and adapt to address the complexities and demands placed on it to deliver "new world of working" solutions for SMART and its resellers. With offices opening in Singapore and the US to meet the needs of the global SMART channel, itec has also had to extend its capability to include Microsoft Lync and O365 integration.
CEO Ross Teague explains "Any IT business that wants to remain profitable has to continuously invest to stay ahead. We have had to overcome a variety of challenges recruiting the high-level of staff necessary to deliver to our clients' expectations, which has meant investment, focus and absolute clarity on our core proposition. We are not strangers when it comes to working with the giants of the IT world - Cisco, Vodafone and Microsoft all keep us on our toes, but the agreement with SMART takes itec to a new level and the opportunity for us to deliver value to our clients is vast. I'm pleased. We've done well."
The advent of cloud technologies and the "access anywhere" needs of employees from all sectors and roles puts intense pressure on IT teams and IT service providers. Although the R&D investment Microsoft, Cisco and others continuously makes in its IT platform mean the technology features and capability are extended and enhanced, the knock-on effect of integration and performance can create acute pain on IT professionals.
"Cloud may seem a simple and cost-effective answer to most businesses when it comes to the need for reduced server hardware and infrastructure" says Teague "but the people (like us) that are tasked with making sure the business is secure and the IT function is fit-for-purpose is a HUGE part of the puzzle. We've had to change the way we work, and the way we drive profits."
To showcase its new capability and partnerships itec has not only invested in its global expansion, but also its marketing team, brand, website and services portfolio.
"There's no point in having a great business, if it's not communicated properly. The investment in marketing is significant for us, but 100% necessary if itec is to fulfil its potential. We have a great foundation set to move us forward to grow past our next milestone. The future is looking good" Teague says.
