Level 42 head out on the road in October for a 20 date UK tour - with a little help from an unusual backer – the global technology company, 3M.

Electrical tape might not be front of mind in the world of jazz funk but 3M, manufacturer of 55,000 wide-ranging products from Post-it Notes to optical films for LCD displays, has become official supplier of electrical tape for frontman Mark King. This will ensure protection of the lead singer’s priceless thumb for the entire tour.

Mark King commented, “For years now I have taped up my thumb with 3M electrical tape to protect it from splitting, due to the pressure that I put across with my style of playing.  Many of the fans come to the shows with tape on their thumbs too, so it’s great to have 3M on board.  Maybe they should sell it on the merchandise stand!”

John Klee, corporate communications manager at 3M commented, “Level 42 have enjoyed massive success and become a real institution. We’ve been around for more than 100 years. They’ve been stars for 30. We’re delighted to give the young upstarts a helping hand! I can’t say we make our tapes specifically for this purpose – but we’re delighted to be backing the band! ”

Level 42 headline shows across the UK kick off in October 2008 and tickets are on sale now and can be booked through www.livenation.co.uk or the hotline 0844 576 5483.   Don’t miss Mark King and his distinctive slap bass style playing all the hits.
