Guardian Careers Forum to host Project Management webchat 12th January 2010 from 1-4pm GMT

Hatfield, 11 January 2010 – RSA, the global life sciences executive search and interim management specialist, today announced its participation in a Guardian Career Forum’s careers advice webchat and Q&A on working in project management.  Tarquin Bennett-Coles, director of RSA Interims, will participate in the live online chat, sharing his insight and experience with those interested in both the short-term and permanent project management job markets.

The webchat will take place on Tuesday 12th January from 1-4 p.m. GMT – and will focus on the results of the 2009 Project Management Benchmark Report.  Open to new graduates, seasoned project managers, and related industry executives, the panelists will discuss how project managers and those entering the field can maximise their career potential in the current climate.  The latest industry figures indicate that the downturn has hit the profession hard, with widespread redundancies and cuts.

Commenting on his participation in the webchat, Tarquin said: “Project managers tend to be ambitious, well-organised, and goal oriented – so participating in a careers workshop in this field is always a pleasure.  Given both the pressure on project managers to deliver results and the varied nature of each assignment, project managers often transition into interim careers as they accumulate experience and a track record of successfully completed projects.

“I look forward to hearing from both recent graduates and experienced career professionals working in project management.  The profession has certainly gone through a tough year in 2009, but as we look toward recovery, many businesses will need to consider the focussed, delivery-oriented approach interims and project managers bring to the table.”

During the webchat, Tarquin and the other panel of experts will be answering participants’ questions in real time, while also responding to the key outcomes of the 2009 Project Management Benchmark Report.
