Memova™ Messaging Powers New Services on TiscaliPlus – The “Carefree” Personal Online Portal for All Popular Internet Services
SAN FRANCISCO September 13, 2005 – Critical Path, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPTH), a leading provider of messaging software and services, today announced that Tiscali S.p.A., the European Internet Communication Company, has deployed Memova™ Messaging to enrich TiscaliPlus – its brand new consumer online service platform for carefree communication and sharing, first launched in the Netherlands and soon to be offered in Italy, Germany and the UK.
TiscaliPlus provides a centrally hosted PIM (Personal Information Management) service where users can send and receive email, store and share multimedia content, and manage personal information via a network address book and calendar. These advanced applications, provided by Memova Messaging, are accessible via the Web and mobile devices, and subscribers can synchronize personal information across mobile phones, PDAs and desktop PC clients.
“By enabling users to store personal information on our network and access it from any mobile or fixed-line device, Memova has supported us in our own efforts to turn TiscaliPlus into a central communications hub for our subscribers,” said Salvatore Pulvirenti, CIO, Tiscali S.p.A. “Additionally, new services enabled by Memova that allow subscribers to easily store and share photos and other multimedia content are completely consistent with Tiscali’s strategy to foster broadband usage.”
“Enriching the consumer experience and helping service providers build customer loyalty and drive revenue is what Memova is all about,” said Mike Serbinis, CTO, Critical Path. “Memova Messaging provides the industry’s broadest range of advanced messaging services in a single platform that supports both mobile and fixed-line services and prepares service providers for the next generation of messaging.”
Along with the email, PIM and multimedia file services Tiscali is offering on its portals, Memova Messaging provides additional services operators can easily turn on or off with basic “class-of-service” provisioning, including a full suite of messaging and collaboration services for small businesses. Key features, such as the platform’s address book, can be easily extended to support applications beyond email and PIM synchronization, such as push-to-talk, IM, conferencing and VoIP services. The address book also serves as a solid foundation for service providers rolling out converged communications services and IMS platforms.
Tiscali S.p.A., (Borsa Italiana, Milan: TIS, Euronext, Paris: 005773), is the European Internet Communication Company providing broadband and narrowband access for consumer and business applications as well as innovative communications services and contents. As of the 31st of March 2005, Tiscali had 5.2 million active users in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and the Czech Republic. 1.2 million were broadband customers, of which 235,000 received unbundled services.
