Coverage was widespread, with a number of national newspapers, including the Telegraph.co.uk and The Sun, covering the story. Healthcare Republic, a Haymarket primary care news site, covered the story on the 'Editor's Blog' with a post written by online editor Emilie Reymond. The post covered the areas of controversy surrounding the story, but covered the safeguards Lloydspharmacy have in place to prevent abuse of the service.
Healthcare Republic is a dedicated online resource for the whole primary care team, providing daily news, clinical and prescribing resources, essential tools and information for running a modern general practice. Launched in October 2006 as the official website for Haymarket Medical, Healthcare Republic incorporates content from GP newspaper, MIMS, Independent Nurse and the MIMS Specialist Journals. The majority of readers are GPs. The site serves over 450,000 page impressions per month. As of November 2008, Healthcare Republic had 71,416 registered users.
