Site Information

GDPR Policy

We take data protection very seriously at RealWire and in line with GDPR guidelines we wanted to explain how we gather your information, what we do with it and why we keep it.

RealWire has always operated on the basis that journalists should be able to opt in to receive press releases from us, meaning that we only send news to receivers that have given permission or it is clearly implied on their website that they want to receive press releases to a specific email address.

We have spent a considerable amount of time making sure we have proof of permission and to be extra sure we have been asking our receivers to authenticate (via a double opt in web link) us holding data for the purposes of sending carefully targeted press releases.
We collect and process data (such as names, phone numbers and email addresses) for our legitimate interest in providing the RealWire service which helps PR and Marketing professionals reach their audience to achieve coverage for their clients and journalists to receive up to date news relevant to the industry sectors they cover.

We have always tried to make sure that unsubscribing from our service is as easy as possible by providing clear unsubscribe links in the emails we distribute to journalists but we will also act quickly to unsubscribe someone if they simply reply to our emails and ask to be taken off of our distribution list. Journalists also have the option to alter their preferences should they be receiving too much content from us or not the right material.

We retain information from unsubscribes in a way that means future emails cannot be sent to that email address and so that any future team members don’t accidentally come across the same journalist and approach them to see if they would like to receive news. We believe keeping this information is to the benefit of the journalist to make sure they aren’t contacted again. However, we understand that people have the right to be forgotten and we can completely remove all trace of identifiable information if they wish.
